The LSU update has been approved by Apple, and should start showing up in the app store “updates” area very shortly.

This update includes the 2009 roster and the new codebase which allows for easier updating of the schedule and staff.

LSU Update Available!

Wow, Apple has really picked up the pace on approvals. North Carolina, West Virginia, and Stanford were just submitted a couple of days ago, but they’ve already been approved and should be on the App store very shortly. I’ll try to follow up with direct links, but you you can always search for “TeamView”, and when available they will show up in the results list.

Enjoy!

UNC, WVU, and Stanford Now Available

I’ve mentioned in a few posts the “new codebase”. All new applications are created with this codebase, and I’m slowly moving the existing apps there as well. I promised details, and here they are.

First, the ugly. The new codebase is more “generic” – less colorfully team specific. This was done to placate the Collegiate Licensing folks, who believed that my applications were infringing on the schools trademarks. I hate this as much as anyone, but I am not interested in a legal battle, or in having my apps removed from the App store.

Now, the good stuff. Before, if there was a schedule change or update, I would have to update the code for the team, submit it to Apple, and wait for up to 10 days for approval. The new codebase allows the Schedule and the Staff listing to be updated via an XML sync. A new button is available on the front page of the application that syncs data with my servers. The data is stored locally, so you won’t HAVE to connect to the internet to get it, but it will allow for some nice features like game times and scores to be posted on the Schedule. I am planning to move the Roster to this same system, but there are a few technical hurdles there.

Besides that, the codebase was shaved down by a large amount — it is literally almost 75% lighter than previous. There have been quite a few improvements in reliability and speed, and those will continue.

Once I get all the teams on the new codebase, and all their rosters filled with 2009 data, I’m moving into the heavy lifting of Roster improvements. Better sorting, more information on players, etc is all coming.

As always, feel free to contact me with questions or comments.

Codebase Update

Still playing catch-up with updates, but I was able to get 3 new apps out the door this evening. Stanford, North Carolina, and West Virginia have been submitted to Apple, and are in the queue for approval. They all have the latest codebase, 2009 rosters, etc. They should be available in 5-10 days.

Stanford, North Carolina, and West Virginia On The Way

More updates! Ohio State had a faulty RSS feed (the news site had moved!), and both teams got their current 2009 rosters and the new codebase that allows for schedule/staff syncing.

As soon as Apple says go, these will be available.

I pushed out an update for Ole Miss this morning, which included the 2009 Roster, updated schedule, the new codebase for XML updates (of schedule and staff), and a new RSS feed (Red Solo Cup had stopped updating). It should be available in 5-10 days, or as soon as Apple approves. I’ll keep you guys posted.

Ole Miss Update Submitted

This morning I submitted an update to the LSU application that has the 2009 roster, as well as a considerable codebase cleanup and update. Like the newly released apps, this now has the ability to update the Schedule and Staff listings via XML, so we can post scores and game times without updating the application through iTunes. I’ll post again when the update is available.

Sorry for the delay, it’s been a very busy summer..but I’m excited to report that I should have a good deal more time to devote to updates and improvements to the TeamView applications.

With that said, by popular demand, California and Utah are now available on the App store!
